Following the scandal involving Haitian children who had allegedly "vanished" in Chile, the Institute of Social Welfare and Research (IBESR) met with the Chilean Ambassador to Haiti to review the case.

A series of meetings has now dispelled the remaining doubts surrounding the case of the "missing Haitian minors" in Chile. The children, who had traveled to the South American country under a family reunification program, outside the procedures required for the international movement of children, became the subject of an investigation by Chile's Court of Accounts as part of an inquiry into a possible child trafficking scheme.
