Hurricane Melissa has caused both human and material damage in Haiti. According to a provisional report from Civil Protection, 24 people, including 10 children, have died as a result of the storm, and 18 others are missing due to flooding caused by the La Digue River in Petit-Goâve. Twenty-one injured individuals are being treated at Notre-Dame Hospital, according to hospital administrator Dr. Fred Jasmin, who spoke with Le Nouvelliste.
