The Champ de Mars has become, for several weeks now, the scene of armed clashes between law enforcement and armed gangs. This area, which hosts important buildings such as the National Palace, the Western Departmental Directorate of the PNH, the headquarters of the Armed Forces of Haiti, the Court of Cassation, and several ministries, is coveted by criminal groups who seek to eradicate the last vestiges of state authority.

This Monday, as has become a routine for several weeks, clashes erupted between law enforcement and the gangs.
