Labodrie Tragedy Resonates Across National and Global Communities

Forty-two people were killed by gangs of the criminal coalition “Viv Ansanm” in Labodrie, a locality in the commune of Cabaret, located north of Port-au-Prince. This massacre is believed to have been carried out in retaliation for the assassination of the Cabaret gang leader, Vladimir, alias “Vlad.” This new killing has provoked a wave of reactions and condemnations from state authorities, local organizations, and international partners.

Following this tragedy, the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) expressed its “deep indignation” at these acts described as “barbaric.” “[The CPT] expresses its solidarity with all the direct or indirect victims of this tragedy, whose homes were looted, businesses devastated, and property stolen,” the institution reacted in a note of sympathy published on the afternoon of Monday, September 15, 2025.
