A Montreal metro station will be named after Vertières. The announcement was made on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, by the city’s mayor, Valérie Plante, and transportation officials, in the presence of prominent members of the Haitian community living in Canada.
Among those present was the most famous Quebecer of Haitian origin since the release of his book How to Make Love to a Negro Without Getting Tired, Dany Laferrière, who spoke at the event.
