Haiti Takes Center Stage at Carifesta XV in Barbados

The different nations of the Caribbean are gathering in Barbados, at the Carifesta Village in Bridgetown, from August 22 to 31, 2025, to celebrate the fifteenth edition of the Caribbean Festival of Arts (Carifesta). This regional event, under the theme “Caribbean Roots, Global Excellence,” highlights the richness and cultural diversity of the Caribbean space. Haiti is represented by a delegation that showcases the country through its gastronomy, its music, and its handicrafts. The highlight of Haiti’s participation is expected on August 30, during a performance entitled “Country Night 2,” where Haitian artists, musicians, and dancers will take the stage.

Carifesta, created in 1972, has over the years become an unmissable gathering for artists, writers, chefs, fashion designers, and artisans from across the Caribbean. For this fifteenth edition, several hundred participants have met in Barbados, an island state located in the heart of the Caribbean Sea. Haiti is participating with a small delegation. The opening ceremony, on August 22, was marked by the absence of Haitian representatives, as the delegation had not yet set foot on Barbadian soil due to travel delays.
