After months of intensive work between the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) and the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, it was decided on September 18, 2026, to grant La Providence Hospital in Gonaïves university hospital status.
From now on, La Providence Hospital in Gonaïves is authorized to train medical specialists. At least, from a legal standpoint.
In a circular signed by Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Bertrand Sinal, this departmental hospital is officially recognized as a university hospital.
