The statements by the American president caused oil prices, which had surged, to fall, and boosted stock markets, particularly in Asia. In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 opened Tuesday up 3%, while the KOSPI rose more than 5% in Seoul, after both had closed the previous session down by more than 5%.
