The leader of the Venezuelan opposition and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Maria Corina Machado, announced that she was back in Venezuela on Sunday, after nearly a year in exile. "I am here. With you," the opposition leader wrote in a message on the social network X. Exiled in Panama, Maria Corina Machado, 60, had attempted to return to her country at least seven times, unsuccessfully, according to sources from her party, Vente Venezuela. U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he was not aware of her return, but expressed his hope that she would be safe. "I know nothing about this, but I think she's a very nice woman. She gave me her Nobel Prize, so how could I say anything else? And I hope she's safe. We're doing very well in Venezuela," he told reporters. According to Ms. Machado's spokespeople, she went to the Santa Rosa church in Barquisimeto, about 400 km west of Caracas, on Sunday to thank the Virgin for her return to the country.<\/p>
