The Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) warns its financial system clients and the general public about the unprecedented scale of cyberattacks, both regionally and globally, over the past five years. "These cyberattacks do not spare Haiti and specifically target its financial system," warns the BRH in a notice dated October 19, 2026. In this regard, it reminds that no financial institution in the country is authorized to engage in negotiations with cybercriminals in the event that they demand ransom following a cyberattack. The BRH thus invites financial institutions to activate, in the case of a computer incident, their contingency and business continuity plans, while taking the necessary measures to strengthen the robustness of their systems, in accordance with the findings of the forensic analysis of the incident.<\/p>
