South-East: the MCFDF mobilizes for greater political participation of women

Rencontre du MCFDF avec les autorités du Sud-Est sur la participation politique et électorale des femmes

The Ministry of Gender and Women's Rights (MCFDF) organized a strategic meeting on Sunday, October 18, 2026, in Jacmel, focused on the political and electoral participation of women in the South-East. Bringing together elected officials, former parliamentarians, organization leaders, and political actors, this initiative aims to encourage women to exercise their political rights, register on electoral rolls, and run for upcoming elections. Discussions particularly addressed the obstacles to women's candidacies and the provisions of the new electoral decree that could enhance their representation. Minister Pedrica Saint Jean also called for a fight against violence, threats, and intimidation during election periods. Through this initiative, the MCFDF aims to strengthen the mobilization of local actors and promote a more effective participation of women in decision-making spaces.<\/p>
