The opening of the judicial year took place at the Court of Cassation, at Champ de Mars, in Port-au-Prince, on Monday, October 5, 2026.
The event, which should have been part of the annual routine, nevertheless marks a recovery that many had long since stopped hoping for. It had been several years since the judiciary had vacated its main palace in the city center of the Haitian capital.
On Monday, when magistrates, judges, lawyers, government members, and diplomats gathered for the ceremony, it was much more than a symbolic act.
