Oil prices surged again on Thursday, with the WTI index, the benchmark U.S. crude, also crossing the $100 mark after Brent did so on Wednesday, as black gold is boosted by the ongoing Middle East conflict, which is hindering maritime navigation in the Gulf region.<\/p>

As of 12:50 GMT (13:50 in Paris), West Texas Intermediate crude for October delivery gained 4.39% to $100.27, the highest since May. The price of North Sea Brent crude for November delivery climbed 3.73% to $104.99, after briefly touching $105.84.<\/p>
