Without much fanfare, the Dominican Republic has just added another record to its list of achievements. In addition to being a prime tourist destination in the region and a sought-after academic destination attracting students of various and diverse nationalities, the Dominican Ministry of Agriculture recently announced that the neighboring republic has become the leading rice producer in the Caribbean and Central America, surpassing the combined production of all other territories on its own.
