Thousands of people took to the streets on Monday, November 17, in Miragoâne to express their solidarity with government commissioner Jean Ernest Muscadin, who was named in a report by the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) accusing him of executing people with impunity. Although the chief prosecutor has not yet announced his candidacy for the upcoming Haitian presidential election, protesters see the BINUH's accusations as a ploy to damage his reputation in order to sideline him from the upcoming elections.
