Haiti has natural and commercial assets that could transform the cocoa sector into a true economic engine, according to Fabrice Leclercq, Chief Technical Adviser of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Haiti.
“Today, national cocoa production remains relatively low, estimated at around 5,000 tons per year. More problematic still: 90% of this production is sold as ‘Sanchez cocoa,’ meaning unfermented,” lamented Mr. Leclercq, a guest on Magik 9 on November 7, 2025.
