The passage of Hurricane Melissa caused significant damage to the road network in the Southeast Department, making travel difficult for users in several communes of the region.
In Jacmel, on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, the Route de l’Amitié (National Road No. 4) was cut off at the level of Bassin Caïman. The La Gosseline River, swollen by flooding, swept away part of the roadway, blocking all vehicle and pedestrian traffic. This section, already weakened by Hurricane Beryl, has once again collapsed.
