Challenging Reintegration of Port-au-Prince Displaced Residents in Jérémie

Many people are forced to leave Port-au-Prince due to the increasing insecurity and terror imposed by armed gangs and seek refuge in provincial cities. The reception and reintegration of these internal refugees often do not meet their expectations. Le Nouvelliste interviewed several of them in Jérémie.

A New Start Amid Uncertainty

Pierre Louis, a former kidnap victim and a diesel mechanic specialist, a family man, and a former resident of ONA-ville in the Croix-des-Bouquets neighborhood, was forced to abandon his home, leaving everything behind to find shelter in Jérémie. The reception from the host family was not necessarily warm.
