According to the United Nations, the violence carried out by armed gangs that instill terror in Haiti has resulted in more than 2,400 deaths since the beginning of the year. "Between January 1st and August 15th of this year, at least 2,439 people have been killed and 902 others injured," stated the spokesperson for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ravina Shamdasani, during a UN briefing in Geneva.
