Large-Scale Population Migration to Provinces: Opportunity to Be Seized, States Michèle Oriol

The massive population movements from the metropolitan region to provincial towns represent a real opportunity to address the decentralization issue that has been debated since 1986, analyzed Michèle Oriol, Executive Secretary of the Interministerial Committee for Territorial Planning (CIAT), in an interview on Magik9 this Tuesday, May 7th. Michèle Oriol urged not to repeat the mistakes made in 2010 and to seize this opportunity to address real problems.

The Executive Secretary of CIAT, Michèle Oriol, invited the State to support the displaced people who will settle in the Grand Sud. Speaking on Panel Magik, Mrs. Oriol believes that in addition to support, the State must take advantage of this opportunity to address the issue of development in the Grand Sud.

"We missed the opportunity in 2010, after the earthquake on January 12. The shock of the earthquake resulted in massive movements to the provinces much larger than the current ones," Mrs. Oriol emphasized,
